Position: Communication and Marketing Manager

The College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP) is one of the most comprehensive schools of art and design in the U.S. Programs within DAAP are ranked among the very best in both a world and national class. DAAP has an undergraduate enrollment of approximately 2,000 students.

The College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning is currently accepting applications for a Communication and Marketing Manager. The individual is responsible for managing the oversight, direction, and implementation of the College of DAAP’s communication and marketing strategies.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Manage the communications and marketing objectives and activities of the college.

  • Assist in developing communications and marketing strategies and implementation plans in support of the college’s goals via print, web and other media.

  • Develop and maintain communication efforts of the college per University guidelines (i.e. websites, social media sites, blogging, email and print).

  • Manage social media accounts.

  • Manage communications/public relations internal to the college.

  • Ensure social media strategies and content across the college support university messages and goals, generate, edit and share content regularly and stay up to date with trends in social media.   

  • Consult with the dean, administrators and school directors regarding their marketing and communication needs and objectives: recommend and implement supporting strategies.

  • Guide the content and design of print publications and websites; draft and execute copy for publications.  Supervise design and layout processes; establish and maintain design standards for all material produced.

  • Monitor and evaluate communications effectiveness; conduct market analyses.

  • Assist with budget and revenue/sponsorship oversight for the functional areas assigned.

  • May manage budget and/or expenditures.

  • Coordinate with campus wide marketing and promotions requirements and plans, working with university-level Marketing + Communications.   

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of communications and marketing; manage production timelines, costs and staff assignments.

  • Manage relationships with vendors and supplemental staff such as freelance writers; ensure that work meets quality and university branding standards.

  • May provide direct supervision to exempt and/or non-exempt staff.

  • Perform related duties based on college’s needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree with three (3) years’ experience; -OR- Associate’s degree with five (5) years’ experience; -OR- seven (7) years’ experience.  Degree must be in related field.  Experience must be in communications or related field.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to work independently

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Demonstrate capacity for developing and understanding marketing strategy

  • Multimedia communications experience including copywriting.

  • Strong project management skills; ability to juggle multiple projects, organize, and prioritize a number of complex initiatives

  • Journalism, PR/communication and/or professional writing/storytelling background

  • Knowledge of digital marketing (pay per click, AdWords, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Pandora, Spotify, etc.)

  • Knowledge of lead generation, lead nurturing, journey mapping

  • Knowledge of KPIs, ROI, cost-benefit analysis spends

  • Knowledge of web content management, web analytics, and analysis tools; experience with Google Analytics a plus

  • Knowledge of email and CRM platforms (Microsoft Dynamics, Salesforce, Hubspot, SharpSpring, Slate, Blackbaud)

  • Advanced computer skills, including mastery of all major Microsoft Office products (specifically Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Demonstrate ability to apply marketing/communications tactics to broad organizational strategies

  • Excellent interpersonal communications skills with an acute attention to detail
