Position: Marketing & Communications Coordinator
The Marketing & Communications Coordinator is instrumental in ensuring effective and timely communications to all of Metro’s internal audiences. Responsibilities include in developing communication strategies, planning employee recognition events, giving campaigns and implementing special projects and supporting the Marketing Department with purchasing and customer outreach activities. The ideal skills for success in this role includes, excellent writing, creativity, project management, attention to detail and accuracy and consensus building skills among diverse audiences.
Write and develop effective and engaging internal communications, including via employeenewsletters, digital platforms, posters and more with the objective of motivating and informing employees about Metro’s goals and objectives.
Develop, organize, and promote employee projects, programs, special events and campaigns (e.g. Diversity Council, wellness efforts, United Way campaign, discount programs).
Serves as key liaison between internal departments and employees to ensure the timely distribution of information.
Assist in the development, administration, and promotion of employee recognition programs to reward employees and increase morale such as the annual safety awards and employee of the year program.
Develop creative strategies to enhance and improve communications and a sense of community within Metro’s diverse workforce.
Assist Marketing and Communications team with staffing and support of community engagement and outreach activities.
Assist Marketing department with procurement processes and paperwork for the department; requires use of Metro’s Maximo software; keep detailed records of procurement activities.
Create specs for projects and get all required bids; proofread all print jobs before sending to printer; coordinate printing process and deliveries.
Track and update budget based on spending throughout the year, keeping department management updated on budget exceptions and issues.
Create annual project timelines and project tracking processes to assure that projects are completed on time within budget.
Maintain department project archives and records.
Serve as an Essential Employee to continue the Authority’s operation during an emergency or weather related event.

Communications - Excellent verbal, writing and non-verbal skills. Clear, concise and persuasive communicator.
Excellent grammar and punctuation; knowledge of writing consistent with the AP Stylebook.

Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or university) in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field
Three to five years in Communications or Marketing.
Publications management and/or communications experience preferred.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
Proficiency in Maximo preferred
Working knowledge or ability to learn email programs such as Constant Contact, survey programs such as Survey Monkey and website content management systems.
Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills
Experience or comfort level with basic photography
