Our September luncheon proved to be the most popular of the year. Is Cincinnati PRSA full of Little Monsters who wanted to learn more about Gaga? There were a few Little Monsters in the crowd, some who like Lady Gaga’s music, but many who are simply intrigued at how the star has built such a passionate following from her fans.
Lucky for us, Jackie Huba was willing to shed some light by diving into the first few customer loyalty lessons she highlights in her book “Monster Loyalty: How Lady Gaga Turns Followers Into Fanatics.”
The lesson that stuck with me the most was her very first. Focus on your One Percenters. Jackie encouraged the crowd to share a few stories of where they were One Percenters. Through these stories, we were reminded that passionate fans will market for you. They may be a little crazy sometimes—but crazy in a good way.
It’s word-of-mouth on steroids. They’ll stand up and tell a room of people why your product or organization changed their lives. They’ll recommend you on social channels. They’ll defend you. And you don’t even have to ask.
So, find your One Percenters. Make them feel special. Give them something to talk about, and show them that you love them back.
