The New York State Joint Commission on Public Ethics (JCOPE) recently published an advisory opinion that would expand the definition of lobbying to cover many activities conducted by PR and communications professionals, including certain aspects of media relations. PRSA has publicly opposed the proposal, as it would require people who are not lobbyists to register as lobbyists in New York.

The Cincinnati PRSA Leadership Team is aware of the issue and will continue providing updates to members as relevant information becomes available.
