Can You be More Pinteresting?
It’s the question that communicators, marketers and social media strategists are asking as they vie for the pin board space of more than 25 million people in the U.S. who are using Pinterest. Businesses are seeing dramatic traffic growth. Pinterest users drive seven times as much Web traffic as Facebook users, and 70 percent of them use the tool to find inspiration on what to buy. Now is the time to turn this social network to your advantage through marketing—with meaning.
Join us to hear from Bob Gilbreath, co-founder and president of Pingage, a new service designed to help businesses dramatically scale their results on Pinterest with less effort. Bob has spent his career cracking the code on digital marketing from every angle: as a brand manager at Procter & Gamble, chief strategy officer at Possible Worldwide, and marketing startup investor. He literally wrote the book on Marketing with Meaning and is now sharing with Cincinnati PRSA how to bring more meaning to your Pinterest strategy.

December 6, 2012
On Thursday, December 6, we will host a joint meeting of PRSA and the International Association of Business Communicators, IABC, to learn about the Greater Cincinnati Story Project, and how we can tap the Story Project in our own work. If you haven’t heard of the Story Project – those of you who work to create and tell consistent “stories” in your own organizations (and don’t we all?!) – you will find the session engaging and very useful.
The Story Project is all about creating a “master narrative” – or singular themes that, when woven together, craft a powerful and unique story about our region.
The work evolved because many organizations asked how to best describe and portray Greater Cincinnati when sharing information about the region. And, successful “renaissance” cities such as Charlotte have used these techniques to their advantage. So how might we apply those success stories here? That’s where the Story Project comes in.

Pro-Am Day
Each year, the Cincinnati PRSA chapter invites members of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) chapters at local universities to join us for a day of learning, networking and real-world experience through a half-day job shadow. The event is back for 2012, and we're hoping this year will be the largest yet!
Participating members will be paired with students who have expressed interest in specific industries or areas of expertise - agency, non-profit, government, social media, corporate, healthcare, media relations, etc. Professionals will meet their student at the Cincinnati PRSA luncheon on Tuesday, April 10, where they will hear from a panel of APRs and a go-getter young professional, sharing lessons they have learned over their career and how pros both young and old can adapt to the ever-changing profession. The luncheon will take place at the Cincinnatian Hotel with the following speakers:
- Mike Boehmer, APR, media manager at Catholic Healthcare Partners
- Christine Demeropolis, senior account executive at Wordsworth Communications and 2011 Cincinnati PRSA Young Professional of the Year
- Maureen Richmond, APR, director of media relations at FirstGroup America
From the luncheon, the pro-am pairs will head to the professional's workplace for an afternoon of job shadowing.
After the half-day of job shadowing, we invite all members - whether they have hosted a student or not - and the professional/student pairings to attend a celebratory happy hour at the Cincinnatian's Cricket Lounge. Cincinnati PRSA will provide complimentary appetizers and an opportunity for professionals and students to mix, mingle and swap resumes and career advice.
