Position: Communications Manager

JOB SUMMARY

The Greater Cincinnati Automobile Dealers Association (GCADA) is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented and creative individual to oversee communications and public outreach efforts on behalf of Cincinnati’s retail automotive industry for the position. This position will be principally responsible for the internal and external communications of the Association, as well as executing the Cincinnati Auto Expo and a variety of public safety campaigns and events throughout the year.

ABOUT THE GREATER CINCINNATI AUTOMOBILE DEALERS ASSOCIATION

GCADA is a not-for-profit professional trade organization representing the automotive retailers in Greater Cincinnati, who together employ over 7,500 individuals and generate over $6.36 billion in sales. GCADA advocates for issues affecting our industry, and promotes our members’ role as employers, taxpayers, and partners in a variety of charitable endeavors in their communities.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Communications/Marketing

  • Develop relationships with local and regional media outlets

  • Monitor, track and assess media coverage relevant to the Association and its members

  • Develop marketing, education and communications materials to promote the Association and its members’ impact on Greater Cincinnati

  • Write public relations materials: media alerts, press releases, public service announcements

  • Update and maintain digital properties for the Association, including two websites

  • Manage social media presence for the Association and Cincinnati Auto Expo

  • Publish weekly e-newsletter, legislative/legal alerts, and criminal activity alerts

  • Manage public safety initiatives around CPR/AED and Child Passenger Safety including CPR Manikin Donation program, two awareness campaigns in conjunction with charitable partners, and a variety of other charitable partnerships/endeavors

  • Promote careers in the retail automotive industry through partnerships with local educational institutions, nonprofits, and other partners

  • Support grassroots advocacy efforts with elected officials at the local, state and federal level

Cincinnati Auto Expo

  • Manage planning and execution of the annual Cincinnati Auto Expo, held at the Duke Energy Convention Center encompassing over 244,000 sq. ft. of exhibits

    • Develop and coordinate sponsor partnerships within the Auto Expo

    • Work with advertising agency to develop and execute ad campaign

    • Work with public relations firm to promote Expo, schedule interviews and respond to media requests

    • Work with and support GCADA staff and our designated charity for the annual gala at the Expo

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • College degree or equivalent experience in Media, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field.

  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal

  • Ability to manage several projects concurrently and meet deadlines consistently with a focus on details and accuracy

  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work successfully both in a collaborative environment and independently

  • Availability to attend/work limited special events during evenings and weekends

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Outlook, Word and Publisher (and/or Adobe Illustrator)

Preferred

  • Working knowledge of Wordpress, HTML, Adobe Creative Suite

  • Experience managing social media platforms for business

  • Experience writing scripts, press releases, fact sheets, presentations, speeches, and other official communications

  • Experience serving as an on-camera spokesperson
